Beating Africa's Poverty by investing in Africa's Infrastructure (2007) PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 13 April 2010 12:08

After years of neglect, infrastructure has taken a central place on the development agenda in
sub-Saharan Africa, with African leaders and donor countries alike making strong commitments to greatly increase the quantity and quality of infrastructure investment. This presents an enormous opportunity for the countries and people of sub-Saharan Africa, who have reason for hope and confidence that this renewed commitment to infrastructure investment will pay off in sustained economic growth and poverty reduction, especially in rural areas. Yet many challenges remain as African institutions work to take advantage of this opportunity and attain the required level of capital from both internal and external sources.
