The Ethiopian Government, DAG and other development partners, private sector and civil society representatives met at the UN Conference Centre on Thursday 3rd April 2014 for a one-day workshop to review the progress made in implementation of the Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP).
"We hope such deliberations enhance transparency and accountability" said State Minister Dr. Abraham Tekeste of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development (MoFED) during the opening plenary session.
The government noted that the country had witnessed three good years of GTP implementations but challenges remained in implementation capacity, savings, export, and the logistics sector.
Investment in human capital was an issue repeatedly stated by the government during the one day workshop where it was underlined that ongoing investments in improving health and education services is expected to enhance the quality of human resources and Ethiopia's competitiveness globally.
